2008 SPECIAL DISCUSSIONS, PANELS AND TRACKS
What does program accreditation mean to you? The challenge of assessment. Who wants to be a dean?
Discussion Coordinator: Steve Holoviak @ Shippensburg University - sjholo@ship.eduHave you discovered a specific instructional approach, technique or classroom activity that can be called an unqualified success and can be applied across business disciplines?
Doctoral students and new faculty are invited to attend two special sessions, one on teaching and one on research. The teaching session will address important aspects of your job such as course planning, technology options, lecture support, classroom activities and balancing your life. The research session will address the challenges facing Doctoral students in the job hunt and new faculty in progress toward tenure. Both sessions are designed to give attendees valuable advice and support as they move forward in their careers.
Cases in all business
disciplines in any stage of development are encouraged for submission to this track.
Case submissions can take one of two forms:
(1) Embryonic Case: a case under development for which you would like input and feedback. Please submit an abstract or vignette no longer than 5 pages, double-spaced. These cases will not appear in the proceedings.
(2) Full Case: a nearly complete or finished case. Please submit the case writeup, not to exceed 15 double-spaced pages, along with the teaching note, not to exceed 10 double-spaced pages. The teaching note will NOT be published in the proceedings so the case will still be viable.
When submitting a case,
please also indicate if the case is a real-world case, a disguised case, or a
fictitious case. Please send all submissions
in Microsoft Word or PDF format.
Student/faculty collaborative efforts in research; writing; or projects are excellent ways of engaging our students in scholarly activities. Such efforts and examples involving students (undergraduate/masters) are encouraged to submit for presentation. Student participation is particularly welcomed.
Have you found the right balance? Secrets of success? Tips on getting started? If so consider serving as a panel discussant.
All session rooms will be equipped with laptop computers (Windows XP/Office 2007) and digital projectors, as well as overhead projectors for your presentations. If using the provided computer please bring your digital files on a flash/USB drive. Note that internet access is not available in the session meeting rooms.
All
abstracts, papers, and cases should be submitted to Joy Swedeen @
